What truly stood out, though, was Angelique’s compassion.  She treated our mother not only as a patient but as a person, showing kindness and empathy in every interaction.
We would like to nominate Angelique for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care, compassion, and advocacy during our mother’s unexpected stay in the ICU.  From the moment Angelique began caring for our mom, she went above and beyond to ensure both our mother and our family felt supported during a very challenging and scary time.

Our mom was unexpectedly admitted to the ICU after complications during a procedure.  Angelique’s communication with both our mother and our family was outstanding.  She took the time to explain changes in lab results, medical procedures, and treatment updates with patience and clarity, which greatly eased our anxieties.  Angelique made sure we felt involved and reassured at every step, providing frequent updates even when we did not inquire.  She truly understood how difficult it is to have a loved one in the ICU, and made it her priority to ease our minds.

In addition to her excellent communication, Angelique demonstrated extraordinary clinical skills.  She was the receiving nurse when our mom arrived in the ICU and immediately advocated for the medications needed to stabilize her.  Angelique skillfully monitored our mom’s changing heart rhythm, oxygen levels, and adjusted her BiPAP settings.  She started additional IV lines, administered medications with precision, and ensured every task was performed with great care.  Our mom was anxious and apprehensive about further procedures, especially needles, but Angelique’s calm demeanor and expertise helped make each process as comfortable as possible.

One particularly touching moment was when Angelique offered our mom the use of an iPad to have a video call with her husband.  She understood how important it was for our mom to feel connected to him and reassured that he was okay at home.  Although our mom ultimately chose not to take the call due to concerns about worrying him with all the medical equipment, this incredibly thoughtful gesture meant the world to our mom, giving her peace of mind and allowing her to feel supported when she was ready.

What truly stood out, though, was Angelique’s compassion.  She treated our mother not only as a patient but as a person, showing kindness and empathy in every interaction.  Angelique cared for our mom over two days, offering continuous support until she was stable enough to be downgraded off the unit.  It’s rare to find someone who combines such technical expertise with genuine warmth, and we are deeply grateful for her exceptional care.

Angelique made an incredible difference during one of the most difficult times in our mom’s life.  She is a credit to the nursing profession, and we believe she truly deserves to be recognized for her outstanding work.
