Somehow, she was able to help us find hope, peace, and strength during what was, and still is the darkest day in our lives.
My husband and I walked through the doors of the Lumpkin Emergency Department knowing I was 7 weeks pregnant. We left the Emergency Department shattered, but if it wasn’t for the compassionate care Angie gave us it would have been impossible to walk back out of the doors. Movies and television shows always illustrate the doctor telling expectant parents bad news, but it doesn’t often show the nurse’s role. I believe this is because it would be impossible for them to accurately portray the genuine compassion that nurses share with patients during these moments. Angie had the ability to help us navigate multiple emotions in a short amount of time. Her interpersonal skills went above and beyond that of many other nurses. Somehow, she was able to help us find hope, peace, and strength during what was, and still is the darkest day in our lives. She had a genuine understanding of what to say and when to say nothing at all. When to place her hand in ours and when to give space. This ability is what separates a nurse from an Extraordinary Nurse. Angie never faltered. I genuinely believe if it wasn’t for Angie’s care, we would not have had the strength to walk out of the doors and find hope for the future.
