Angie Leal, RN, BSN

Our family would like to recognize Angie for the exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism she provided during my grandfather's hospital stay following a car accident that resulted in a sternum fracture. At 80 years old, this experience was frightening and overwhelming for him and for our entire family.

From the moment Angie became involved in his care, she brought a sense of comfort and reassurance that made a tremendous difference. She took the time to thoroughly review his chart, lab results, and treatment plan with us, ensuring that we understood what was happening every step of the way. Angie’s calm presence helped ease his anxiety and gave us confidence that he was receiving the best care.

She also made an effort to keep us informed with updates about his condition and progress, helping us feel involved and supported during a stressful time. We appreciated her attention to detail as she noticed that his blood pressure cuff was not the appropriate size and immediately replaced it to ensure accurate readings.

She also took the time to teach our family how to properly use the incentive spirometer and explained why it was an essential part of his recovery. She helped us understand how deep breathing exercises could reduce the risk of fluid buildup in his lungs and prevent complications such as pneumonia.

We felt that Angie truly cared about my grandfather as a person, not just as a patient. Because of her, a difficult hospitalization became much more manageable for our family.

We are deeply grateful for the care she provided and believe she is truly deserving of recognition through the DAISY Award.
