January 2017 Honoree
angie madsen, RN
When my 6-month-oldson needed to be transferred to Children's Hospital due to respiratory difficulties, Angie was one of the nurses on the transport team. She drove us from urgent care to the hospital. She took care of me while I cried at urgent care and kept my mind off my son during the drive. When we arrived she calmly let me know he was having difficulties. She then walked with me, arm around me, to the ER where multiple staff cared for my baby. She did not leave our side until we were safe in a patient room. I cannot express how good it felt to know she was there for us the whole time. Also, in such a chaotic situation it was so nice to have someone to lean on and care for me. She will be someone I will never forget. I can't begin to thank her for keeping me calm and providing outstanding care for my son. She even stopped by the room a few days later to check on both of us. She is a prime example of teamwork, providing excellent patient care, and compassion for patients and families. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank her for everything!
Thank you, Angie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
