Anisha Holbrooks, RN

I am writing to recognize the dedication and excellent care Anisha Holbrooks brings to each shift in the emergency department. Anisha is consistently a smiling face, a hardworking nurse, and someone always willing to help out their coworkers. The support she shows makes each shift more joyful and manageable for staff and patients.

Recently, Anisha cared for an elderly male patient involved in an MVC. This patient sustained multiple rib fractures and a brain bleed from the incident but was most concerned about his wife, who has also been involved in the collision. His wife has been admitted to Neurology, and he expressed that he is the caregiver for his wife at home. Anisha not only provided excellent care but also went out of her way to emotionally support him regarding his concerns for his wife. While arranging for his admission to the ICU, she also worked with transport and nurses from the neurology floor to allow this patient to see his spouse prior to moving to his ICU room. Anisha took the time to take the patient to another room and provide much-needed reassurance before safely delivering him to his ICU room. It turns out the spouse had been greatly anxious about the condition of her husband as well. This provided peace of mind and comfort to both patients.

Anisha listened to her patient and learned that he has been married for 68 years. We never know what day could be our last, and what injuries could be life-altering. Anisha considered the human side of this job, which can be easy to forget. Great medical care matters, but emotional care can be just as soothing. Anisha is always a great nurse to work with, but this instance really highlighted her commitment to her patients and this hospital. I think she would be an incredible candidate for the DAISY award, and i look forward to working with her int he future.
