In addition to our GYN and GYN Oncology patients, we care for postpartum patients who have experienced a miscarriage, late term fetal demise, or infant death. Even though our nurses care for these types of patients on a daily basis, we understand how heartbreaking it can be to lose a child. Although we show these patients compassionate care, Anita has gone the extra mile by embroidering a piece of fabric with the saying, "Because someone I love is in Heaven, there's a little bit of Heaven in my home." She puts each of these into a frame and gives them to each of the patients upon their discharge. These patients leave UMMC with a little bit of happiness at such a hard time because of Anita's compassion.
