Anita Broyles exemplifies over and over the definition of The DAISY Award description: a skilled, compassionate nurse both for babies and their parents. She also cares for her coworkers. Anita never fails to give a helping hand, especially in an emergency situation with a critical baby. Time and time again she comes in to "save" the unit with extra hands. She CARES about the babies and her coworkers. Day after day, in any hospital unit, busy situations that include difficult assignments, patients, parents, and meetings, can leave any nurse frustrated and mentally exhausted. But NOT, NOT, ever for Anita. She is our cheerleader. She keeps us smiling with our "happy" board. She mentors our new grads quietly and gently. She honestly is the first nurse I have met to never get flustered in any situation. Her calming personality makes us all step back and remember the complete care of the patient. There are so many things Anita does to keep the unit working smoothly. I want to thank Anita for her dedication to the profession of Nursing. I offer my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for her love of the profession, and care and hard work she gives to the Nursery and NICU.
P.S. Anita made turkey outfits for our NICU babies who had to spend the holiday with us. She remembers the little things in life!
