March 2010 Honoree
anita smith, RN
Anita was Nathaniel’s night nurse for several nights while we were on the 8th floor. She took excellent care of him and was very supportive and encouraging to us.
On the day of Nate’s lymph node biopsy, he had to have a blood transfusion. Even though her shift ended, she stayed over to make sure that everything went smoothly with the blood transfusion. She called from home to make sure that Nate’s surgery went well.
Nate was moved to the 7th floor and she came in to visit him before her shift began. That is dedication, compassion and love for your patients! That is why we would like to nominate Anita for the Daisy award.
