Anita Woodrow, RN
We rarely hear "active labor" when we ask for the primary complaint in the Emergency Department. I have been here at Gouverneur a little over a year, and I have only had a few instances in which we have called the baby whisperer, Anita, in. Each and every time without hesitation the answer is always "yes, I will be right there". There is something to be celebrated when you have a nurse with such expertise who is always willing to support her community. Anita is so special for this, and we are all so very lucky to have her!

I know of at least 3 other times Anita has come in to support a mother in labor. She is a very compassionate and skilled RN and always goes above and beyond!

During my night shift, I had a young woman coming in with active labor. Due to the frequency of contractions and dilation, the patient was progressing, and delivery was imminent. We called Anita, and she volunteered to come in. This is above and beyond the standard of care!
