Anne Browne is an amazing work colleague. She is a complete all-rounder. Every day she demonstrates kindness, care and compassion to every pediatric patient she encounters. And not just the patients, the parents and family members also. No matter how bad the situation is she always has a smile on her face, that reassuring touch, that nurse that I as a mother would be so grateful to see if I came with my sick child. Anne commenced a new role in our ED and with it developed a new pediatric unit. In doing so she encountered many challenges and obstacles. Despite all this, her vision and determination never wavered and instead drove her on to what she knew was needed and what would inevitably be a resounding success story. While her ability to demonstrate kindness and care to patients is so obvious, these qualities extend to the staff she becomes involved with. Her own colleagues, the extended ED nursing team and indeed the entire multi-disciplinary team. Nothing is a problem to her and she thankfully has the ability to bring a whole cohort of staff together onwards and upwards. We as a department are so grateful for her constant support, enthusiasm and commitment to the development of this service in ED. We have gained a real asset and I know that Anne is truly deserving of this award.
