In the early hours, I was transported from CHH to BJH with appendicitis to undergo an appendectomy as soon as an operating room was available. The staff upon my arrival were excellent and worked to keep me comfortable until the shift change at 7 am. That is when I met my primary RN for the day, Ann. It would be later in the afternoon before I was taken back for the surgery, so I spent the day with Ann.

Ann was extraordinary in her care and her attentiveness, almost anticipating my every need before I could ask. My husband had gone home to take care of some things, but my daughter had stayed, and we were both impressed with Ann's demeanor and expertise. Ann worked to make me as comfortable as possible and made me feel like I was her primary concern, although I am sure she had other patients she was tending to as well. I have never experienced that kind of personalized care before in the hospital. She has the heart of a healer who brought great comfort to me. I believe Ann is worthy to be recognized as an exceptional nurse!
