G was transferred to the care of the 4th-floor personnel. Due to G's history and anticipated future, I strongly advocated for him to be returned to Beaumont Commons before 24 hours had elapsed. However, Beaumont Commons required a new insurance authorization and we all know nothing happens on Friday afternoon. Now we were stuck for the weekend. He received attentive care from nursing assistants, from housekeeping and other personnel.
Sunday night/Monday morning, G took a turn for the worse. J, his nurse, called me in the middle of the night to let me know he had fallen, but suffered no significant injuries and would be okay. The next morning Ann Marie Bradley, his day nurse who had been his nurse for several days, called to say he had worsened. My daughter and I came to the hospital, where we were joined by other family members. G passed away in the early evening.
G was cared for by wonderful personnel, but to me, the kindest was his nurse Ann Marie. She cared for him on several days and, became familiar with us and our situation. She was with us when he passed away and helped guide us to make this very peaceful for G and family. She met with us afterward to share some stories. I can't thank her enough for her kindness and caring.
