We often have patients who come to us from the margins of society and have a lot of baggage or many physical or mental health issues. These patients can often be a challenge to deal with, but they are the ones we are truly called to look at and see the face of Christ.
I recently witnessed Ann Mejer dealing with one such patient who was trying to leave AMA. Ann treated her and her husband with such patience, love, and compassion even though the situation was very difficult. She spent over 2 hours with them to ensure the patient had a safe plan to go. During all of this, Ann did not lose her kind, gentle composure. She truly exemplified our mission and values.
