February 2014 Honoree
anna akins, RN
I have always had problems getting blood from my portacath. Being stuck in the arm every week becomes painful. I expressed this to Anna on one of my chemo visits. She took time to work with me and explained that the problem may be the position that the port is laying. After some trial and error we found the right position that I had to be in to get blood. Anna's caring and respect for me and the problem I was having should be commended. She understands what cancer patients go through.
Thank you, Anna, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
