She was very dear to us. When we went home, my son talked about how much he liked her. She made this stay worth it.
We knew the Lord placed Anna Catherine as my son's nurse the day we met her. She shared with him that she too had an ostomy at one point and it was the reason she became a nurse. She encouraged him that one day he may become a nurse or doctor and help kids. His IV went bad twice. He has probably had hundreds of IVs in his life so he is sensitive about the location. He shut down when this happened. Anna did not push him. She knelt by his bed and listened to him. She gave him space to rest and prepare to get a new IV. He asked for a heat pack and she placed that on his site for comfort. When she came back for the new IV she took her time, spoke calmly, and explained each step along the way. She got it on the very first try. Even when he needed a new IV on another day she was able to get it as easily as the previous time. She was very dear to us. When we went home, my son talked about how much he liked her. She made this stay worth it. For a kid to remember a nurse's name she deserves to be recognized!
