I had many encounters with nurses during my recent ED visit but will always remember my one nurse, Anna. After delivering at 17 weeks, at home alone, I was in a state of shock. No one else but Anna asked if I wanted to hold my baby. Anna wrapped him in a blanket and put him on my chest. She cleaned all of the blood off my hands and legs and combed my hair. She didn't skip a beat when I asked Anna to take photos of us. She also took the time to make a memory box with footprints, weight, and height, even though I could tell she was very busy with other patients. Anna gave me my dignity and turned the worst moment of my life into a treasured memory.
