Anna was nominated by the husband of a patient. He wrote a letter thanking the entire medical staff, the ER and specifically Dr. C and Nurse Anna Esparza for "their exceptional compassion, empathy and support. They gave far more than we ever expected. Angels they were. Let them know how much that meant to us."
He wrote us on behalf of his wife, a long term cancer patient at OHSU who was admitted through the ED. He sent Anna a separate letter stating: "I doubt you remember me as it has been so long since you helped us when my wife was in the hospital. I apologize for not sending this sooner. I want you to know how much respect I have for you and your devotion to patient care. Even though my wife is still struggling with daily headaches, I remember how well you took care of her in 14C and how much it calmed me."
