She laughed with us and was concerned with us. Anna showed me respect and patience during her long 12-hour shifts. She advocated for me and provided wonderful care each day I was in her assignment.
Anna had a full assignment when I was admitted with pancreatitis. But that didn’t stop her from coming into my room every time I rang my bell. She would always have a wonderful attitude and never made me feel like I was annoying during all those hours of being in extreme pain. Anna was compassionate and made me feel like I was her only patient. Even with a full assignment, she was never frustrated when she arrived to reassure me or tell me when my next pain medication or antibiotic dose was due. Anna was at my side within minutes of the next dose of pain medicine to get me through the long hours and days. She truly was one of the best nurses I ever had. Anna was respectful not just to me but also to my visitors. She laughed with us and was concerned with us. Anna showed me respect and patience during her long 12-hour shifts. She advocated for me and provided wonderful care each day I was in her assignment. But it wasn’t just me. I could hear Anna’s voice going door to door, greeting her patients and providing each of them with kindness and encouragement. I was always relieved when Anna walked through my door in the morning because I knew I would get through my difficult day, and through the pain and the uncertainty of my prognosis, and eventually my surgery. I was doubly blessed to have Anna as my nurse after my surgery. It was so nice to see a familiar, friendly, compassionate face!
