Anna washed them and folded them at home, and if that was not enough, Anna purchased a bag from Goodwill to hold the patient's clothes.
A recent patient came to 7A from a Skilled Nursing Facility. At his discharge, he was being sent to a different facility. All of his belongings were at his old facility. He tried to arrange for the items to be transported and was unsuccessful. He was greatly concerned that his belongings would be discarded. An urn with his mother's ashes was one of the belongings as well as the patient's wheelchair. Anna Gaevskaya RN from 7A Family Medicine went to the patient's old facility, retrieved his items, and brought them to 7A. Most of the patient's clothes were wet and moldy in a plastic bag. Anna washed them and folded them at home, and if that was not enough, Anna purchased a bag from Goodwill to hold the patient's clothes. The patient was very appreciative and at ease after he received all his belongings after three weeks on the day that he was discharged from 7A. Anna's actions exemplify the mission, vision, and values of MUSC. She is an excellent and caring team member, and I am honored to have her as an employee on 7A Family Medicine.
