Anna Heier, R.N.

I am nominating Anna for the care she provided during our most critical patient of the shift — a stroke patient who arrived critically ill, required intubation, multiple IV medications, and an emergent transfer for a thrombectomy. Cases like this are challenging anywhere, but at a critical access hospital, they demand more from everyone involved.

Anna was exceptional. She assisted during the resuscitation with precision and composure. She was always a step ahead. The care this patient received was, in no small part, because of her. She cared for his wife, who was at the bedside for all of it. Anna took the time to build a genuine connection with her from the start—warm, unhurried, and honest. Every question was answered. Every concern was addressed directly.

By the time that ambulance left, his wife was not just informed about what was happening; she trusted the people caring for her husband, and she felt cared for herself. Anna understands that the patient in front of her is never just the one in the bed.
