Anna H was the day nurse for my mom on the first day she was moved from the cardio unit to a regular floor. She is the first nurse who listened to ALL of our concerns and struggles with the care my mom is receiving, and she took action and got things done for us. She showed extraordinary amounts of empathy every time she came into my mom’s room to give her meds or to help her, no matter the mental state my mom was in (agitated & delirious after being in the hospital for 3 weeks & being confined to bed 24/7 because she was a fall risk & nobody wanted to help her out of bed to sit in the chair). Every previous request or concern fell on deaf ears or took multiple times of asking more than 1 person & at least 2 or 3 days to get anything done, but Anna handled things right away on the same day. She also alerted us to the side effects of the pain medication that my mom was on & that the side effects included mental confusion, agitation & hallucinations, all of which my mom has been experiencing & we repeatedly told other nurses & nobody alerted us to the fact that it could be the pain meds! Mom’s food trays were always cold by the time they were delivered & Anna was thoughtful enough to warm her food up without even being asked, including the next day when she wasn’t even assigned to my mom. She also responded to the call light very timely and never complained about readjusting my mom on the bed more than once a day. She helped my mom get her meds in her mouth & made sure none were dropped. But there were no dropped pills when Anna took care of her. I could go on & on with several more examples, but the sum of it all is that Anna H is an EXEMPLARY nurse!
