Anna Katherine demonstrated extraordinary and compassionate care during a patient's 3-week hospital stay on the Pediatric Unit. Especially during a night that the patient was feeling very tired, hurting and struggling emotionally, Anna Katherine sat and counseled her. She gave her an assignment to write 15 things she was proud of doing with no help during this hospital stay. This gave the patient encouragement, and what she needed to start her journal. When finished journaling, she left her journal out for Anna Katherine to see, fell asleep and when she awoke the next morning reaching for her journal, saw that Anna Katherine had written her back. This was the most meaningful thing she experienced during her hospital stay.
