January 2018 Honoree
anna mangimela, RN, BSN
My husband was admitted with an unrelenting migraine. Home meds and ER meds were unsuccessful in relieving the migraine, so he was admitted to 5 Tower. Anna was immediately in his room seeing to his needs as he was in much pain. She darkened the room since he was light-sensitive. Her cheerful and compassionate presence was a comfort to him. She made him comfortable with pain medication and quickly brought in a fan since his room was very warm. Throughout her shift, she checked on him often. I know she was very busy with other patients as the floor was full, but she was never unduly hurried which was reassuring to him. Anna is an excellent nurse.
***
Anna was extremely friendly and went out of her way to ease my fears, encourage me, explain and re-explain when she knew it was hard for me to understand medical terminology. She is very caring, not only as a person but as a nurse. Anna has a genuine spirit.
