On the third sleepless night in a row my girlfriend J was sore, exhausted, tender nipples, crying, etc. All my attempts to soothe her were in vain. I approached Anna at the nurse's station and asked her to discreetly stick her head in on J's room (J is stubborn when tired and refuses to ask for help). Anna said she would go right over and I should take a small break. When I got back to the room, Anna was still in the room. J's mood had shifted from distressed to outright happiness.
Anna had deftly assessed her situation, played to J's strengths, reassured her on her doubts and worries, and took a woman who was flailing and empowered her brilliantly! Anna should be the example every nurse should strive for. Thank you Anna!
