She trusted her instincts that something wasn't right.
Anna deserves the DAISY award because of her extraordinary clinical judgment and advocacy for her patient. Anna was caring for a very complex patient who had a low hemoglobin level and was receiving blood, but still appeared off. She trusted her instincts that something wasn't right. She informed the residents taking care of the patient, and they ordered blood for the patient and stated that the patient was stable. Anna just did not feel right about this situation. Once the patient's blood pressure started to drop, she called a rapid response despite the assurance from residents. Patient's blood pressure continues to drop. When the CBC came back in the morning, Anna immediately recognized the seriousness of the increase in WBC and activated the sepsis clock. She notified the residents of all her concerns. In the meantime, the patient continued to seek comfort in Anna, talking about needing to say her goodbyes and asking Anna to let her family and friends know in case she did not make it. When she still felt like she wasn't getting the patient's care escalated quickly enough, she asked for the ICU MD to come evaluate the situation. Her swift escalation led to the patient being transferred to the ICU for the higher level of care they urgently needed. Anna's vigilance, intuition, and commitment to her patient's safety directly saved a life. She embodies the compassion, skill, and dedication that the DAISY Award represents.

**This is Anna's 3RD DAISY Award!
