August 2024 Honoree
Anna Pepper, RN
Anna took care of T, our CapMC Cath Lab Manager, for 2 days while in the TG Neuro ICU. He’s young, has 2 little girls, 2 and 4, and a lovely wife who is not medical. T had a stroke that affected his left side. No one knew what caused the clot. K, his wife, was trying to be an advocate and didn’t know how to support T. Thankfully, Anna knew how and guided K.
Anna took the time to listen to K, then took more time to share what questions to ask. This made K feel like Anna cared about T the person. He wasn’t just a patient or statistic. T was a young man who deserved opportunities to get the best outcomes. Anna gave K the tools she needed to have conversations with physicians. He went to GSH inpatient rehab and is now walking, talking, and you wouldn’t know that he just had a large stroke. He’s expected to go home on Wednesday and will most likely return to work.
Please express T and K’s gratitude. It was the first thing T asked me about when I went to see him at GSH inpatient rehab. He asked that I make sure Anna is nominated and thanked for the care she provided him and K.
Thank you.
