Since the first day of working with Anna, I was completely blown away by a multitude of her leadership traits, including but not limited to: her professionalism, her communication and collaboration, her compassion and empathy, and her desire and ability to drive practice change
As we know, Anna provides leadership to one of the nation’s largest remote monitoring programs for critically ill patients (eICU), BayCare’s Central Patient Placement and Patient Communications Center. She has a unique ability to take innovative ideas and quickly convert them to real-time solutions/best practices. A true visionary.

Other strengths lie in her ability to successfully communicate and lead initiatives that involve both physicians and our nursing teams across our 16+ hospitals. She is like a clinical entrepreneur with a tremendous can-do spirit!”

Anna is very involved throughout the system, engaging in many different projects. One such project that she has worked on involving Patient Placement was developing a pilot with SJH to improve bed assignment times. She put together a two-day workshop where she invited the stakeholders involved. In bringing this group together, it improved relationships and understanding that we all had the same goal. Even though it is still a work in progress, the data has shown this pilot to be successful.

In her position, developing and maintaining relationships that foster collaboration and trust is imperative. Higher levels of professionalism in literature have been linked to improved empowerment and autonomy, improved quality of practice, improved patient outcomes, and improved professional development for their team members. I have seen the proof of these outcomes with Anna Morgan. The ICU is a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of healthcare providers, where practice evolves rapidly, and maintaining professionalism is often a challenge.

In our years together, Anna has maintained a stellar level of professionalism, always able to pivot and prioritize requests and/or issues, while keeping optimal patient outcomes at the center of her focus. Some of the professionalism traits that Anna exemplifies are: punctuality to meetings and presentations, consistently respectful, regardless of the situation or the heat behind a conversation.

Anna maintains an environment of positivity and open communication, she holds herself accountable to see a task through to completion, she shows a strong work ethic, despite having more than the typical director on her plate, she is always helpful and asks others where she can lend a hand, and she is fair.

Anna Morgan is an amazing Nurse Leader and role model for all nurses in BayCare. Anna started her career at BayCare as a CN2 at MPH. She progressed to manager and was then promoted to Director of eICU, Transfer Center, Central Patient Placement, and Patient Communication Center. Anna has led and participated in many successful projects that have had positive impacts on BayCare patient outcomes.

She is a leader for BayCare in process change and innovation for nursing. Anna provides encouragement, guidance, and support to her managers for their own individual projects. Anna is always open to new ideas and embraces change. I have worked for Anna for 18 months, and I cannot think of anyone deserving.

Anna exemplifies open-mindedness by embracing diverse perspectives and fostering a culture of collaboration within her team and among other nurse leaders. She encourages growth for her team through mentorship and nurtures her own skills.

Anna is committed to excellence by staying current with research and evidence-based practices to ensure the care we provide at BayCare is of the highest quality. Anna inspires me every day, and it is a pleasure to work with her!
