Customer service excellence - Anna was always asking us if there was anything we needed, even if it didn’t pertain to baby or postpartum care.

Community involvement - Anna had an ISU nursing student shadow her and always made sure to explain to her what she was doing and how she was caring for mom and baby.

Patient/family advocate - Anna advocated for us by communicating to the doctors about our concerns and being politely persistent with them to come to our room to communicate with us.

Educator/mentor - Anna went above and beyond to explain things we needed to know as first-time parents. She also showed us hands-on and made us feel comfortable asking any questions, even when we felt like they were silly to ask. She never judged us or made us feel like we were being a burden.

Exceptional nursing care - We would emphasize everything above, and in addition, she made us feel safe and heard, which gave us the comfort knowing that our baby boy was getting the best care he needed. Anna made sure that Mom felt safe and comfortable in such a vulnerable time. She leveled with her and helped her to feel a little more at peace with so many large changes to her body.
