Anna is an amazing leader, advocate, and educator for our complex bleeding disorder population. She has helped organize and coordinate comprehensive clinics and outreach clinics, organized new means of communication with our adolescent patients, made new handouts for medications in multiple languages, and helped keep track of our patients' needs and follow-up.
Anna is a great example of the incredible value that a great RN coordinator can bring to a medical team! She provides coordination of care for our bleeding disorder patients, as well as general hematology patients that we see. She is organized, communicates well with families as well as other team members, and is very attentive to details and follow through so that even in the chaos of all the labs and follow-up that our patients require, she never lets things fall through the cracks! She demonstrates a high level of professionalism. I am honored to work with her and grateful that she is on our hematology team.

Anna is phenomenal! She is a resource hub for everyone on the team. She gets stuff done and makes the day fun! She has a close relationship with all her families and patients. They love her!

Anna has been so great for the bleeding disorder team. She dove right in as a new nurse coordinator over 4 years ago and hasn't looked back! She took an excellent existing job and added more structure to it, taking over the bimonthly bleeding disorder comprehensive clinics, keeping track of all 300+ patients to be seen annually, managing referrals to adult hematology for transition, and maintaining excellent communication with the partnering bleeding disorder pharmacy. She really has developed thorough relationships with all of her patients, remembering what they've been into recently, what sports they play, how they are able to do their bleeding disorder medications, and partners with parents and family members to provide thorough care. She is the first person the patients want to talk to when they call or when they come into clinic because they know her so well and have justifiable confidence in her nursing ability to care for their child.
Under her expert coordination, patients have a thoroughly detailed travel letters now for their bleeding disorder to take with them. She has also created at least three, if not more, new patient education handouts for specific bleeding disorder medications within the hospital system. Patients have a thoroughly documented and communicated bleeding plan for surgeries and procedures, allowing for consistent, thorough communication of bleeding disorder, expectations and ways to prevent bleeding. This includes pre and post-surgery check-ins with patients to mitigate any side effects or bleeding.
Anna has also worked with the bleeding disorder team to do local outreach clinics in the various parts of Washington state, providing this much-needed personalized care to these patients, so people don't have to drive all the way to Seattle.
Additionally, working with so many adolescents and young adults who are loath to speak on the phone, Anna has worked with the hospital to allow for texting to patients within HIPAA to increase communication with her young adults, which has been made available for the rest of the disease-based nurses in our clinic.
It's been so lovely watching her grow professionally as a nurse. I am satisfied in the knowledge that these patients are truly receiving the best possible nursing care that anyone could get. I'm so happy to know Anna and so thrilled to nominate her for the DAISY Award.
