I was admitted to Hershey Medical Center and underwent surgery in September. After surgery, I was transferred to the colorectal surgery floor, where I was under the effects of anesthesia and medications. The night nurse, Annabella Reid, discovered I was given the wrong pain medication after scanning my ID. This had resulted in me receiving 10 times the prescribed dose of pain medication. She quickly informed my doctor of the error and I was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit until I was out of danger. At 85 years old, I realize how fortunate I was to have a nurse so skilled and attentive. I am deeply appreciative of the excellent care I received at the medical center.
