Annaise Vargas, BSN, RN

In my life, people have seen me as a foster child, a homeless man, a prisoner of his own mind, and a victim. But when I got to 8 Central, Nurse Annaise did not see me as any of those. She saw me as (Patient Name). I am an artist, a poet, and a man with a past, but Nurse Annaise reminded me that there is a future ahead. She was busy when she took care of me but she made time for me. Even when I wasn’t right in the head. She even took the time to sit with me and read my poems. All of the nurses and doctors have been unbelievable, but Nurse Annaise is the best. She has empathy. She doesn’t have to pretend that she cares because she actually does care. For the longest time, I have been a prisoner of my own mind. Thanks to Nurse Annaise and my great doctors I am finally breaking free.
