It took some time for my mom to feel confident doing it on her own, but Anna never made her feel rushed, even though I knew she had many other patients to care for.
It was my mom’s second kidney transplant, and postoperatively, things weren’t going well. She was experiencing tremors from her immunosuppressants, along with constant nausea and vomiting, and to top it all off, the donor kidney wasn’t functioning. Through all of that, Anna Kay’s calm demeanor and consistent reassurance helped my mom hold onto a positive outlook. She made sure my mom was included in her own care every step of the way. One moment that stood out to me was when Anna patiently taught my mom how to empty her JP drain. It took some time for my mom to feel confident doing it on her own, but Anna never made her feel rushed, even though I knew she had many other patients to care for. My mom is my best friend, and as someone who works in healthcare myself, I’ve encountered many professionals, but no one made me feel the kind of comfort and confidence that Anna Kay did. I knew that when Anna was her nurse, my mom would be okay. And that was an incredible relief. Anyone who has Anna Kay as their nurse is truly lucky. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and the very definition of nursing excellence. Thank you, Anna Kay. Words can’t express how grateful I am that you took care of my mom, my best friend, when she needed it most.
