Annaliese made sure that I knew that, ultimately, the decision was up to me and that we could take some time to try different techniques to flip my baby and help with my dilation before agreeing to have a C-section.
From the time that my water broke to the time my baby was delivered, I was in labor for 26 hours. When Annaliese became my nurse, I had already been in labor for 16 hours and was extremely tired. She had made it clear from the very beginning that she cared about my comfort and expressed that she would be my advocate the entire time I was with her. My dilation had stalled for 8 hours; we realized my baby was facing the wrong way, and the conversation of having a c-section was coming up even though, from the beginning, I did not want to have it unless I truly had to. Annaliese made sure that I knew that, ultimately, the decision was up to me and that we could take some time to try different techniques to flip my baby and help with my dilation before agreeing to have a C-section. Thankfully, the different massages and positions that Annaliese did not only flipped my baby, but they helped me to fully dilate, and saved me from a C-section in the matter of one hour. She was truly God-sent. Even the little things she did for me did not go unnoticed. Whether it was staying past her shift to ensure I was okay, to making sure I had enough ice water, enough blankets, and even gave me lavender and citrus scented patches to provide me more energy and comfort. There’s nothing I could ever say or do to show how much her care, thoughtfulness, and patience mean to me and my family.
