September 2024 Honoree
Annalyn Makinano, RN
Our daughter was born at 35 weeks and admitted to the NICU at Ochsner Baptist. Nurse Anna (worked nights) noticed her neck was swollen when she cried one night and noted it for the physicians and care team to examine. It turns out our daughter has hypothyroidism, and Anna caught it early by taking such good and meticulous care of our daughter, C. We are forever grateful to Anna for providing such excellent care and catching this within the first few days of our daughter’s life. The physicians were impressed by Anna’s watchful eye and careful observation that she had a bulge in her neck. She provided such compassionate care to C when we couldn’t. Her care provided us comfort and ease when we would go home for the night. We knew that Anna was caring for our daughter as if she were part of her family.
Thank you, Annalyn, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
