In 2020, the DAISY Foundation and HealthImpact partnered to create the HealthImpact DAISY Nurse Leader Award in Policy. The award was created to honor nurses whose work in policy advances compassionate care that improves the health of populations.
Ms. Flick has been a leader to advance compassionate care for patients, families, and nurses. She has participated and led statewide policy initiatives such as ensuring equitable coverage of epinephrine autoinjectors for teenagers, opening Delaware's first prison nursery so that imprisoned mothers can spend several months with their newborns to breastfeed and foster healing connections, and improving the ability for patients to be empowered at the end-of-life.
