DAISY FACULTY AWARD FOR EXTRAORDINARY NURSING FACULTY PRESENTED TO DR. ANNAPOORNA MARY Dr. Annapoorna Mary, Assistant Professor of Nursing, is the 2011 recipient of the DAISY Faculty Award at Baptist College of Health Sciences. Dr. Mary was presented the award on March 28, 2011 at the College's Annual Honors Convocation. Several stories from Nominees were shared...below are samples of nominations from both students and faculty: I believe that Dr. Mary should be recognized because she was the first nursing instructor and I finished with her. She began to teach the numerous nursing concepts in Health Assessment and completed them in Nursing Capstone. She always went above and beyond to make sure we were educated and remained professional. She has a unique teaching gift that touched me and I will always remember her animated stories. She always practiced safety of the patients and students and helped up to pull information from all courses and apply them to each unique situation. Dr. Mary has been an inspiration to me during the time I have known her. She has been thorough in her teaching and explanation of concepts. Dr. Mary is always looking for ways to assist students’ learning for positive outcomes. I believe she is very learned but has a very humble spirit. I was very impressed, both in Nursing Research and Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing with her knowledge. I believe she is an appropriate candidate for this honor. She always integrates Christian principles in her teachings. Dr. Mary should be recognized as an exemplary educator because of the passion she has for teaching, students, and the nursing profession. Dr. Mary loves all aspects of her role and transfers this passion to the students. This transference enables students to grow and to gain in their confidence as well as competence. She has a genuine love for all students that penetrates each life she touches. Our students and faculty alike are fortunate to have her and her impact on the nursing profession.
