Annie is the consummate professional, focused and organized, not afraid to speak up for what is right even in uncertain moments.
It is with great honor that we award Anne Marie Procario the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes nurses who have devoted their lives to the compassionate care of others. As a dedicated nurse for 44 years, Annie is most deserving of this esteemed award.

Graduating in 1981, Annie began her career here at Lawrence Hospital/NYP Westchester in 1989. Annie’s strong work ethic and commitment to Med/Surg did not go unnoticed, and she was recruited to the Endoscopy Unit in 1992, where she has since faithfully and successfully served.

Annie is a dedicated professional, and nursing is not just a job; it is her vocation. She shows up every day, ready to do her best, consistently advocating for her patients. Annie never shies away from the difficult conversations with her patients that may involve their medical or treatment decisions and even end-of-life care. She gives 100%, and through her kindness and compassion keeps her patients safe and well cared for.

Annie has a passion for learning. She completed her BSN in 2019 and continued on to pursue her Master's. She holds her Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing and encourages her colleagues to pursue higher education and certification so they may be successful in providing excellent care. She loves to precept new nurses and provides the support and structure they need, and is a role model to aspire to.

Annie is the consummate professional, focused and organized, not afraid to speak up for what is right even in uncertain moments. She has been lovingly dubbed as “Policy Procario”. As a senior nurse, she advocates not only for her patients but for herself and her colleagues by understanding the resources necessary and available.

Annie’s other great accomplishments include being a devoted daughter, committed to the care of her parents in their later years. She is a dedicated mother to her two daughters. However, her most cherished triumph may be that of becoming a Grandmom to her handsome grandson.

Annie, the Endo team, as well as the entire nursing team at Westchester, will feel the impact of your retirement. Your influence and guidance will have a lasting impact for many years to come. Congratulations on this most deserving recognition. You are an example of compassion and excellence in nursing to all of us, and you leave a lasting legacy! We love you and will miss you. Congratulations!
