Anne spent her whole day off with one of our patients that she had taken care of on numerous occasions. This patient was in the PICU receiving end-of-life care. Anne was there to hug the family and hold the hand of the patient. She stayed to perform postmortem care on the patient. She cried with the patient's mother and was truly a strong, supportive presence for her. To me, this is a beautiful act of nursing and selflessness.
