Very few nurses are as exceptional as Annmarie "Annie" Procario, the Gastroenterology Nurse whom I was fortunate to have cared for me before my colonoscopy. From my initial contact with Annie on the phone when she called the day before my procedure, to meeting her for the first time when she escorted me from the waiting room to a room where I could change, it was abundantly clear that Annie was an absolute "Ray of Sunshine!" Annie has a refreshingly cheerful manner, an infectious smile, and a genuine heart of gold! When I asked her if the hospital had any hand cream I could use after washing my hands, Annie quickly offered her personal hand cream. Moments later, while Annie was in the process of prepping me for my colonoscopy, I began to experience a panic attack. Annie was so caring and compassionate as she helped me to relax by having me focus on my breathing while guiding me to take slow, deep breaths. I was so grateful to her for helping me get through my ordeal. It was impressive how effortlessly she navigated the stressful situation while maintaining her positive and supportive demeanor. Annie came to check on me after the procedure and even called me on Monday to see how I was doing. There are no words to adequately express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Annie for being so wonderful to me! The hospital should be proud to have such a gifted nurse as Annie.
