Anne Pruitt-Lente, from the Pueblo of Laguna, has shown exceptional dedication to her community and studies at the UNM Health Sciences Rio Rancho campus. She established a student food pantry, ensured access to free feminine hygiene products, and advocated for a pumping space for student mothers. Her commitment to public health extends beyond campus; she administered flu vaccines at clinics and volunteered at the Albuquerque Opportunity Center, providing healthcare to homeless men. Anne's passion for nursing stems from her experiences as a military widow and single parent, as well as the loss of her father at the start of nursing school, which deepened her empathy and drive for compassionate care. Looking ahead, Anne aims to promote nursing through mentorship and outreach in the Native community. She plans to become a nurse practitioner, providing culturally sensitive care and advocating for better health care access.
