I would not have survived this 2+ month journey if it wasn't for Anne Z. Anne's knowledge, compassion and love for these babies could never be replaced! Her skills/care for my preemie exceeded above all others. She provided the type of caring which most of the nurses cannot. The type of care that would ease a first-time mother's worries at my most vulnerable state in which having to leave my critically sick infant and trusting a complete stranger with my entire heart (my newborn son). She gave us reassurance. She takes her profession seriously. She educated us on everything, including symptoms, and machines, and preemies. She has strict protection over the babies, confirming our ID, hand washing etc.
Now, one moment sticks out. My son was only 3 weeks old. I started to notice he wasn't himself, wasn't smiling, and his color was off. I brought this to the attention of the day nurse. She replied, "He looks fine to me." I knew there was something wrong. We prayed that we would have Anne for the night shift. Then she came, our HERO, into his room and immediately noticed he was not good, he was very ill. Anne got him started right away with medicines, there was no time to delay.
Anne got us through the holidays. Her wisdom has given our family peacefulness. Anne would come check on him even when he was not her patient. I could never repay Anne, and "thank you" seems inadequate. She is our hero. Our nurse superstar! She is the best role model for the younger generation of nurses. This is more than just a job to her. She is extraordinary.
