The patient recalled meeting Annemarie at the clinic to address a rather straightforward issue and expressed gratitude for her "incredible care and concern about not only my treatment, but also my other health issues." Those issues were related to substance abuse. "Annemarie was ready to step in and help me. She showed me concern and compassion. I was so well treated and never felt judged. Annemarie never pushed. She showed genuine concern for me and for my health."
Annemarie encouraged the patient and introduced the idea of the methadone clinic at Addison Gilbert Hospital. "I am actually clean now, and Annemarie has something to do with that. She was like a friend to me."
