When I think about Annette Love, I think about a nurse with compassion, intelligence, and unwavering support. Annette continues to have complex cases in the ICU, and I want to nominate her for the Daisy Award for her exemplary efforts in case management.

She recently had a patient who was admitted after a construction site accident rendered him paralyzed. What stood out was her genuine commitment to the patient and family. This case was exceptionally difficult as she was dealing with an external case manager, insurance company, and all the details of planning an out-of-state air transfer. 

She not only tended to his discharge planning needs but also took the time to check in on his emotional well-being as well as his family’s. She showed him compassion and empathy. Whether it was a moment to offer a comforting word or offer an update to the family, she calmed his anxiety and gave him hope. Her presence made a significant difference in his hospitalization.
She also formed a professional and supportive relationship with his family. Their appreciation was displayed to Annette by the hugs and smiles at the honor walk she arranged.

Annette reminds us of the impact a single nurse can have on a patient’s life and turn a difficult journey into a path of hope.
