I will never forget the first thing Annette said to me, as soon as I arrived on the floor, even before I made it past the nurse’s station, she came to my bedside and said "my name is Annette Roberts", I am glad you are here and I am going to take good care of you". For someone as scared as I was, that really meant a lot to me. We could ask her anything and we did! She made sure if she did not know the answer, you would get it by the end of her shift. She cares about her patients as people, their feelings and the whole package.
My family chose for me not to seek care for my Guillain Barre in our hometown. So we checked in through the ER at WakeMed. In the nearly two weeks there, I had great doctors, technicians, and transport staff. But I had even better NURSES. I cannot ask for better care from anywhere else, but WakeMed Hospital. Nurse Roberts is a rare gem and deserves to be acknowledged for a job well done. She will never really know how her positive attitude helped me through some very scary treatments.
