Annie had a challenging patient who was making incremental gains over the weekend. Throughout the weekend Annie was his nurse for 12 hours each day pushing him, being his cheerleader, and advancing his care. 

She helped him overcome multiple obstacles, both physically and mentally. At the end of her weekend, knowing her time was ending with him, she took the time to write him a short card with encouragement and reminding him what he had overcome during their time together. 

This patient was almost in tears as he spoke about how much this little gesture meant to him and helped give him the encouragement he needed to get better and ultimately discharge.  On top of this, Annie is a charge nurse and preceptor, she is constantly making 'fun tip sheets' to help make the knowledge 'come alive' for people in orientation.

Annie brings enthusiasm for great patient care, a healthy work environment, and knowledge to the unit every day. Even when she has a bad day, you can't tell, as she is always putting her patients 1st. For our UBC, she has recorded videos for the new employees specific to different types of situations where a tip sheet just wouldn't work.
