My son was born 16 weeks early and stayed in the NICU for over 100 days. Annie took him on as her "care baby" to act as an advocate for him when we could not be there. One day even though his vitals looked normal for him at the time she felt something was off so she immediately called the doctor. Because of that, we found out his lung had re-collapsed which we wouldn't have known for another 24 hours when his next x-ray was scheduled.

She cared for him as if he was her own and always made time to talk to my husband and me. She left cute notes in his crib when he was not there so that we could know where he was when we watched through their camera system.

Annie continues to follow his progress through my social media and is still cheering him on every step of the way. She even drove 1.5 hours back to the hospital after working a 12-hour shift the night before so that she could be there for his going home bubble parade that the hospital does for long-term NICU babies. She is such a wonderful kind and caring nurse.
