Annie continued to give us assurances he was in the right place and had the best doctors. Her sweet smile made it feel, I don't know, better, less frightening.
Annie was our nurse on many occasions. Annie gave exceptional care every time she was with J so it is hard to pick a date of when she went above and beyond. One day Annie had come in and was working with J, she informed us J's blood numbers and vitals were not great and she would be back shortly. Well, shortly was just a few minutes, she had an ICU doctor, a cardiology doctor, and a resident within minutes. While they were all working on J, Annie continued to give us assurances he was in the right place and had the best doctors. Her sweet smile made it feel, I don't know, better, less frightening. Within an hour of all this taking place, Annie was giving J blood products and informed us he would need to be transferred down to the ICU. Annie walked us down to the ICU, introduced us to Nurse Kate, and assured us again J was in the right hands. Annie came in again after her shift was over to check on J and on us. Annie made four more visits to the ICU, including one on her day off to check on us. J died a few weeks later. Annie wasn't assigned to J that morning, but she was there, to comfort and to care for us. There are so many more occasions Annie stood out to us. It was an honor to have her care for our son.
