We had a person arrive at our hospital seeking care in the emergency department. He exhibited all of the signs and symptoms of an acute MI. Since we do not have an ED in our facility, we had to call an ambulance to transport the person. After waiting over 10 minutes and then learning that it would be an additional 11-minute delay, the care partner decided to drive the patient. Annie stated she would not let them go without support, jumped into their truck, and accompanied them to the nearest ED. This was truly our mission in action: "Inspire Health, Serve with Compassion and Be the Difference." Annie is more than our CNO; she is a transformational leader whose influence ripples far beyond the hospital walls. Through her vision, advocacy, and steadfast belief in nursing, she has created an environment where excellence is expected, equity is pursued, and compassion is at the heart of everything that we do.
