Annika Jacquet, RN

Annika has been a nurse since July 2024. She began her career at Emplify Health by Bellin on the float team before discovering a strong connection with both the team and patient population on the First-Floor Observation Unit. She officially transferred to the unit in November 2025.

Since joining our unit, Annika has consistently distinguished herself by going above and beyond for both her patients and colleagues. She is actively engaged in improving unit processes and is proactive in identifying potential barriers to patient discharge. Her forward-thinking approach allows the team to address these issues early, supporting our goal of facilitating discharges within 24-48 hours. Annika is also participating in the trial of a new AI care plan documentation system and provides thoughtful, constructive feedback. Notably, she was the first among several nurses to identify that the appropriate care plan task was not appearing on the brain correctly for observation of patients, demonstrating her attention to detail and commitment to patient care.

She is also a strong patient advocate, ensuring that discharges are safe and appropriate. In addition to her clinical expertise, Annika has recently taken on the role of preceptor for several new staff members. She has demonstrated exceptional teaching abilities, and feedback from her preceptees has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting her knowledge, support, and effectiveness in fostering their development.

Finally, Annika exemplifies teamwork and accountability. She consistently assists with answering call lights, responding to safety checks, and supporting colleagues without prompting. She approaches his responsibility with a positive attitude and professionalism. Annika is beyond deserving of the DAISY Award, and I am honored to help with her nomination. She always has a smile on her face even when the day can be challenging. I enjoy every day that I work with her.

I want to nominate Annika for a DAISY Award. She is such an asset to our unit and makes everyone's job easier just by being there.

First off, she is an incredible mentor. When she's training new people, she's so patient and helpful. She also has this amazing way of talking to the doctors; she's super clear and professional, but always makes sure her patients are getting exactly what they need. She usually includes the charge nurse in difficult situations to have additional support and ensure they are in the loop. She advocates for her patients as well. No matter how crazy the shift gets, she never complains. She stays positive and keeps going.

A perfect example of her going "above and beyond" was with a really tough case recently. We had a patient who needed a procedure but couldn't sign for themselves, and getting guardian approval was becoming a total nightmare. Annika didn't give up. She spent so much extra time on the phone and coordinating with the docs to make sure the necessary people were involved so no further patient care was delayed. She handled a stressful situation with so much grace. Annika definitely deserves to be recognized.

Annika never complains about taking admissions and is the first person to jump up to help a teammate. Her patients love her, and her teammates do too.

Annika has been a breath of fresh air for our unit. As a core nurse, she is an anchor for our team, bringing an excellent attitude and always willing to go the extra mile to take care of patients. As a preceptor to our new hires and student nurses, Annika is a treasure. Every student or new hire she has precepted in the past 3 months has given her high praise as someone who is calm and competent. Annika makes her orientees feel safe and encourages them to ask questions. I'm so grateful she chose First Floor Observation to be her home!

Annika is always willing to help, doesn't complain, and has been a great preceptor!

Annika was willing to take on the end-of-shift AI care not pilot. She has provided good feedback on items that work and that need to be adjusted. During downtime, she was willing to jump in and help whoever needed it.

Annika has never shied away from growth or a challenge. When the department needed someone to step into a role, whether it was precepting or trialing a new process, Annika was ready to accept. There is also a great difference between those who accept because the boss is asking and those who accept because they are genuinely willing to expand themselves. Annika is the latter.

She exemplifies compassionate care for patients and team, clinical skills, patient- and family-centered care, critical thinking, exemplary service, and patient advocacy. It is an honor to nominate her for the DAISY Award!
