Ansley is an extraordinary nurse with a huge heart. She proves this every day with the kind and compassionate care she provides for her patients. A recent act on her part went above and beyond her nursing duties and really showed that her love for her patients goes above and beyond the walls of Shepherd Center. On this particular day, Ansley was closing on her first home purchase. But instead of heading to her new house to think about paint colors or to pick out new carpet, Ansley headed to the beauty supply store. One of her patients was a 21-year-old young lady who had a TBI and had to have her head shaved because of the craniectomy and subsequent cranioplasty. Of course, this young girl was very self-conscious about her hair and had expressed that she felt ugly. So Ansley, on the day of her house closing, went and bought her patient two wigs and came up to Shepherd to bring them to her. Her patient loves her wigs and she wants to wear them anytime she leaves her room. She has reveled in the attention and compliments she receives and her self-confidence has been bolstered tremendously. Such a small act of kindness made a huge difference in the life of this young lady. Ansley does things like this all the time, showing enthusiasm to always go the extra mile for her patients. Ansley is an inspiration to me and makes me strive to be a better nurse.
